Welcome

This blog is about sports cards. I tend to only purchase cheap items so don't come hear expecting to see big money cards. My teams collections are Chicago White Sox and Michigan Wolverines. I also have a bunch of player collections.

Fred's Finds

One more post before I get my lazy ass down to the card room this weekend and finish the stuff I got last couple of weekends. These came from Fred, at work.

A couple for the White Sox collection. Although Gavin may become a PC guy soon. I always pick his stuff because I like him and I've lost a couple of PC guys recently with everyone leaving the Sox. Including the other guy up there. I have a few guys that I've been following that I may add.

He also gave me a couple of Sox who are PC's. Both A&G, the Robert is the X and the Hendriks is the mini gold border. The Robert is the 221st of him and the Hendriks is 46th.

These Leaf Draft are new to me, I didn't have any of the red parallel's so it was nice to get these 2. I already had the base and gold of both. They are my 43rd card of DPJ and my 13th of Patterson.

That's only my 4th card of Mazi Smith. I had the silver but not the base. Also a nice surprise of the Mo Hurst autograph. It's my 2nd auto of his out of 22 cards.

My plans tomorrow are running my wife to the hospital for some tests but I'm hoping to work on some cards in between.

South Bend Sunday Show

I went to my LCS today to drop off previous sorting. I only pulled a few cards for myself but when I walked into the LCS, he had a few cards already set back for me. Then I started walking around and he had bought 100 autographed mini helmets. I'll tell you the story when I post them but you can see them on my Instagram account now.

Today's post are the cards that I picked up at the South Bend show which was a day after the Shipshewana show.

I paid $5 buck for these 5 cards. The Hutch and Hayes were priced at $2 each but he discounted everything to a buck a card. I picked these up from the guy who sets up in front of us, I believe his name is Ray but I'm not positive.

I picked up these 5 from Austin who sets up at a bunch of shows that we do. He had a dollar box that had a bunch of color so I went through it and found these and paid a buck a piece. Apparently he's not like the other dealers and give a little deal to other dealers.

Jackson, who usually sets up but he doesn't do Sunday shows came by and had a case. Kevin flipped through it to see if he wanted anything and he showed these 2 me and I picked them up from him. He had $25 on the Colson (it's #'d/50) and $10 on the Edwards but he gave them both to me for $25.

Kevin bought a box of cards from a guy and I flipped through it and pulled these 3 for me. Although now that I see them again, I'm pretty sure one of the cards from my LCS today was that Bufkin. Looks like it might be another card for Dennis' stack.

Next up are some cards that Fred brought me at work and then I need to get my cards done from the last couple of weeks. See, I haven't only slacked here, but on my cards as well. That's partly because I spent most of Sunday finally putting all my stuff away. I had a huge stack that needed to get put away in my boxes and books. I had to resort the books and added a couple more as well because I've been picking up a lot so far this year. I'm currently at 745 cards so far this year in concurrence with this post

Shipshy Stuff

Another weekend, another show. Yesterday's show in Buchanan was ran by a 15 year old. The same 15 year old that pulled that Ohtani die cut, numbered to /99 autograph from a Mega we sold him over a year ago. He's come a long way just in the time we've know him. His father gave him some start up money and he started doing breaks. He still does them, along with setting up at shows and now running one. His father said that he paid him all back within 6 months and is essentially running his own business now and I'm guessing he makes pretty good money doing so. His father also says he plays baseball for the school and get's straight A's. To be honest, I'm kind of proud of the kid and I don't know him that well. I mean really, the best part of him is he's a Michigan fan so....

Anyways, we did his show yesterday. He had asked us if we'd be interested when he was thinking about running his own and we agreed. We've done a few shows that way, they tend to come to us because we've got a pretty good reputation. I purchased a few cards, and came home with some freebies but you'll have to wait to see those.

Today's post is cards I picked up at the Shipshewana show a couple of weeks ago.

I picked this up from the High Heat table. He used to set up across from us in Plymouth so I got to know him pretty good. He's a White Sox fan as well so we usually have things to talk about it. I just checked his table real quick before we tore down at the end of the show. I like to throw him some business but this was the only Cronenworth he had that I didn't. I'm sure I overpaid at $5 but like I said, I like the guy so that doesn't bother me. It is my 85th card of Jake.

I went to Hollister's table as well because he always has a Michigan box so I don't have to sort through a bunch of stuff to find anything. I grabbed these 5 auto's from that box. I was trying to grab auto's of guys I don't have auto's of and ended up with 3 guys that I didn't even have cards of yet. Quinn Nordin, Chris Hinton and Tarik Black. I probably won't do a PC of Black because he transferred out but I will still pick up his Michigan stuff. The Jack Blomgren is my 6th card of his but that's my 1st auto. I mainly grabbed the Kauffman because there isn't a ton of Michigan baseball cards out there so I grabbed it. It's my 3rd auto of Kauffmann out of 3 cards I have of him. I paid $15 for all 5 plus an additional auto that I picked up for Dennis.

The day after the Shipshewana show, we did the South Bend show so guess what pick ups you'll get to see tomorrow (if I post).

Catching up

I've been a slacker lately on here. I've got cards to show and I just have been too lazy. I even picked up a few cards last weekend that I haven't even logged or scanned. Although it you follow this site's Instagram you would have seen them.

My last sort for the LCS was a big one. 16 800 count boxes and 4 2 row boxes so needless to say, it was a very big sort so I got quite a big stack of cards to keep so let's get to it. There won't be a lot of commentary as I need to get to bed.

We'll start off with the vintage and other stuff.

There were a couple of vintage Tigers to add to the Vintage collection.

I mean, when I started the team card collection, I didn't say they had to major league. They're free to me so I added them.

I added this to my other collection of cards that don't actually fit into my PC's. I will forever know this as the Sears Tower and not Willis. I've spent a lot of time in Chicago over the years and this was a pretty consistent stop when I was young. The observation deck is on the 103rd floor (I think) which was pretty cool as a young 'en. I have made it back since they added the glass that you can look straight down from.

On to the Sox collection.

I only scanned the players I have a lot of cards of or the players that I like that I don't actually PC.

Next up are my Tier 3 PC's

Next up are my Tier 2 cards.

Next up are my Tier 2 Michigan PC's

Yeah, that's it but most of this is MLB and Cronenworth is the only guy who's getting cards in most of the sets.

Last but not least, Tier 1

Like I said, a lot of cards.

I have more cards that I picked up a couple of weekends ago at the Shipshewana and South Bend shows, plus some from Fred and then at the Mishawaka show last weekend so I'll try to get some more posts out between birthday posts.

Meanwhile, I'm out, time for bed.
